Finally... We Have Chicks!

We've been talking about it for quite a while. 

It's official! We have Chicks!

Buff Orpington Chicks

We bought half a dozen Buff Orpington chicks. I didn't realize, but there's a law that you have to buy a minimum of 6 (at least from retailers). We'll find out if they are hens or roosters as they get older and grow bigger. The employees at Tractor Supply said "Well if they go 'cock-a-doodle-doo, you know it's a rooster.'"

"We had to have baby chicks to take care of, Mom! Even if they don't make eggs yet they are cute!"

Good news for those looking forward to an early Spring. Gardening, flowers and all those things that come with spring. Phil Predicted the end to Winter!

Given the 40% accuracy rate... We shall see if he is right. The weather this week here in Central Maine is in the mid to upper 40's with rain tomorrow. I'm rooting for Phil this year!

It's just not right when kids have to look for Easter eggs in the snow!
